Created: 12/6/2025Updated: 12/23/2025

To PASS a course under KTU 2024 Scheme, a student must meet both conditions:

1️⃣ ESE Requirement (External Exam)

The student must score at least 24 marks out of 60
(40% of ESE – End Semester Examination).

2️⃣ Total Marks Requirement

The student must score at least 50 marks total (Internal + External).

If any one condition is not met → FAIL

📘 All Possible Clear Examples (6 Cases)

These examples cover every type of pass/fail situation, so students can understand easily.

Case 1: Minimum Passing Example

Internal = 26, External = 24

  • External ≥ 24? ✔️

  • Total = 26 + 24 = 50 ≥ 50? ✔️

Result: PASS

Case 2: Fails Because Total < 50

Internal = 25, External = 24

  • External ≥ 24? ✔️

  • Total = 25 + 24 = 49 ❌

Result: FAIL (Total is below 50)

Case 3: Fails Because External < 24

Internal = 40, External = 18

  • External ≥ 24? ❌

  • Total = 40 + 18 = 58 ✔️

Result: FAIL (External is below 24)

Case 4: Safe Pass Example

Internal = 25, External = 25

  • External ≥ 24? ✔️

  • Total = 25 + 25 = 50 ✔️

Result: PASS

Case 5: Fails Both Conditions

Internal = 20, External = 15

  • External ≥ 24? ❌

  • Total = 20 + 15 = 35 ❌

Result: FAIL (Fails both External and Total)

Case 6: Pass With Low Internal but High External

Internal = 10, External = 40

  • External ≥ 24? ✔️

  • Total = 10 + 40 = 50 ✔️

Result: PASS
