What are SGPA and CGPA in KTU, and how are they calculated for BBA (Hons.) and BCA (Hons.) students?

Created: 11/2/2025Updated: 11/2/2025

Under the KTU 2024 regulations for BBA (Hons.) and BCA (Hons.) programmes, student performance is evaluated using SGPA (Semester Grade Point Average) and CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average).

  • SGPA (Semester Grade Point Average):
It is the weighted average of grade points obtained in all courses of a semester.

  • CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average):
It represents the overall academic performance across all semesters.

Example:
If a student earns grade points of 9, 8, and 7 in three courses with 3, 3, and 4 credits respectively:

Note:

  • CGPA is used to determine the class or division at the end of the programme.

  • The minimum passing grade is ‘P’ (6 Grade Point).
